Delightful product design

Suprising baselines
In today's digital world, it's important to remember that the foundation of many successful journeys lies in traditional product design. It's not about computers, pixels, or 3D models, but rather about hands-on craftsmanship.
As a designer, I confidently commenced my career with the fundamentals of product design, working with materials like wood and ceramics. This traditional background has provided me with a deep understanding of customer-centric design, extensive knowledge of various materials, and the skills necessary to navigate the entire product design process.
Here I will show you one example of my product design history, the Oiva-vase.
OIVA-VASE
The Oiva vase was inspired by the expressive Finnish nature. The vase represents birch with its versatile shape and has been cast from a small wooden birch log.
My ideology is to create something with a twist, make it meaningful and delightful, or also with a “Aha, yes”-moment.
Below are some inspiring images from the talented fine artist Riikka Soininen’s summer place*. I envision the Oiva vase on long wooden tables, holding some coastal plants.
